Hello Friends and Neighbors;
We would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the successes that our members have brought to fruition in the last year! With your help and the dedication of the members we have seen great accomplishments in the past year! Last year, as you remember, we asked you to support us in our endeavor to purchase new bunker gear. Your generosity has made that goal a reality!
Our membership has applied for and secured another grant with the Federal Emergency Management Administration in the amount of $82,000. This money has been earmarked for firefighter safety equipment. These items are essential to the operation and safety of the fire department personnel. The grant included 25 new sets of bunker gear, 25 lockers to store firefighter gear, an extruder to wash bunker gear, and a thermal imager. By applying for this grant, Frankville Emergency Volunteers Association has eased the burden to our taxpayers, in that the equipment we received would have had to come from our local EMS and fire protection tax money. In the past three years Frankville Emergency Volunteers Association has applied for and received over $200,000 in grants!
Our volunteers are involved in all aspects of community betterment, not just fire and emergency medical services! This year, besides responding to 13 fire calls and 23 medical calls, members found time to attend fire schools, monthly trainings, and emergency medical service classes. Recently the volunteers donated and built a loft in the fire station to store seasonal equipment and to make room for our new lockers. In addition, firefighters installed two new dry hydrants, thus giving us better fire protection capabilities!
The membership currently has two firefighters enrolled in the Firefighter I training class. With these additions, our department will have 14 members with Firefighter I certification. It is our intention to not only help our members become compliant, but to keep our citizens safe as well. We feel this forward-looking attitude will not only assist in the protection of the people of Frankville Township but also the surrounding areas.
We will be submitting another grant request shortly to see if we can help support our department purchase a new pumper to replace our aging 1991 model. We would like to take this time to thank you for your past support and once again ask for your support in the upcoming year. It is our commitment to provide you with the best fire and emergency services possible, we need your help to make the men and women the safest they can be! Please donate generously for our safety! Let’s make this year another record setter! Please respond at your earliest convenience.
